  1. PLC Team Outcomes: We discussed how we can help challenging students and we came out with several good ideas to help students by co-teaching, getting help from university students and tutoring after school, Saturdays and intersessions. We also went over with our cycle 3 and 4 and share what and how we teach and evaluate for level 1 students in the morning. We are planning to do the same for level 2 students afternoon if the time allows. I find that we are teaching similar content for level 1 students for all 4 languages.

  2. In regards to retreat outcomes:
I have been motivated to try and use more technology in the classroom, as it is and will continue being tools that our students will use in life.

    PLC Team Outcomes:
    We are getting there!

Recommendations and expectations for next retreat: More PLC time.

  5. Recommendation and expectation for next retreats: I understand we have 4 more days of retreats by June this year. This would mean that A-track teachers will be have to leave classes 4 days this year. If there are 6 possible retreat allowance dates for next year, is it possible to space out evenly like every 4 months for 2 days each?

  6. Overall Retreat Outcomes were: We seemed to be in agreement about the utility of the retreat and its interesting format. Team members were able to come together in ways that were highly productive and we learned new technologies, such as Voki, Blogging, Clickers, and Mydata. Mrs. De Hart and I would like to request a second set of French books for level 1 and 2 for each class because
we never finish the book in year one. This would help with the continuity of delivery in a two or three year program for students.

PLC Team Outcomes: Our Arabic, French, Hindi and Japanese teachers shared out what they will do for the 3rd and 4th PLC Cycles in the Spring semester. We discussed unit concepts and strategies for deilivering the content of our units.

Recommendations and expectations for our next retreat venue off campus with a six hour block of time. I would like to hear teachers who have not yet presented what they learned at non-Bell High School staff developments, like LA STARS and ACTFL. I would like to see as many members of the department present something of mutual interest as possible. I would also like to have the NBC teachers earn some of their hours in helping to plan and lead the next retreat. This would save the school some money because NBC hours are paid through another fund. In future years, if we still have the funding, I would like to see the 3 2-day retreats evenly spaced out in three or four month intervals.

  8. Retreat outcomes:

Thank you everybody for a wonderful retreat!

The new strategies and information our colleagues presented was relevant, insightful and inspiring.

Thanks to the participants for the enthusiasm towards the new strategies and informational tools presented today.

It is important to me that the new strategies and informational tools such as, Blogging, Clickers, and Mydata, is taught by our colleagues. I value information that comes from teachers who have tried it in the classroom or have put it to practice to inform their teaching.

    PLC outcomes:

There is a clear commitment to PLC teams and more importantly to our students!

PLC teams are clearly blossoming; the more we continue to collaborate, share and make adjustments to our practice, the stronger our team and the greater the impact to our students’ academic success.

    Suggestions:

We are eagered to incorporate the IPod touches into our lessons.
Please provide a full day of PD training with clear examples on how to incorporate IPod touches into our lessons.

Looking forward to the next one!
